The return of Brody McBride

Synopsys Former bad boy, now-decorated Army Ranger Brody McBride is home and on a mission: Find the woman he never should have left behind and right the wrong he did eight years ago.

When the man she loved broke her heart and skipped town, Rain Evans picked up the pieces. But along with heartbreak, Brody left her something infinitely better than she could have imagined: two beautiful daughters. One she gave birth to, and the other she rescued from the woman who helped destroy her relationship with Brody.

Brody is shocked to discover he's a father, and he's more determined than ever to win back Rain and protect his girls. Can they rekindle the love they once shared and become the family they were always meant to be? Or will a danger from their past return and ruin everything?

Not sure where to start.

I’m truly baffled.

And I’m truly.. truly sorry.. but

This crap is a book?! Are you freaking kidding me! 😲

In no way I’m implying that I could write a book or that Jennifer Ryan is a horrible writer. I simply haven’t read enough of her books to make a good judgment of that. And even then, books are very personal.

Butt jeeeeeez, this book got me mad with capital letters, and despite being a difficult reader I don’t often have the tendency to throw a book through a wall and scream in agony. Holy crap. It’s a miracle I even made it through, to be honest.

So.. Brody returns back to the small town, Fallbrook after eight years.

He left after cheating on his girlfriend, Rain. Oh wait.. of course, it’s not cheating because he JUST broke up with her before ending up in bed with the town… uhm… let’s say lady of entertainment. Like THAT makes it any better.

Ridiculous.

In those eight years, he has no contact with Rain, sleeps with a lot of other women (even living with one for a while) but all that time he wants Rain? Yeah right. How are we supposed to believe that?

Ow wait… we just crab Rain, force a kiss on her, and all is forgiven. 🤬🤮

Come on.

Talking about Rain, does she not have any backbone? Any self-respect? This man has had no contact with you, sort of cheated with you, got you and another woman pregnant, comes back, and just declares he will get you back? Who would want a cheating bully like that? And why is only Rory seen as the antagonist?

The way Brody treats his brother, sending him away, mouthing off to him, multiple times threatening him which Brody does a lot of. Using intimidation to get his way. He loves the kids and then declares he wants to be alone with Rain. He’s grateful to his brother then sends him out the kitchen so he can almost fuck Rain while his brother is stuck with the kids AGAIN. I just don’t see why anyone would be with someone like him. Nothing in this book makes sense. Every word out of Brody’s mouth is ridiculous, and unrealistic, and seems only to be focused on sex. HORRIFIC.

I just don’t buy the relationship as I found both MC’s extremely unlikeable and unsteady. The PTSD feels like it’s put in to make us care about Brody but to be honest, the only people I sort of like are Dawn and Autumn

 please NEVER AGAIN
