 writer J. Michael Straczynski illustrator Shane Davis published 06-11-2012 goodreads ★★★★☆ 5723 ratings / 3.98 star personal rating ★★★☆☆ | yeah.. my second superman comic is done! And wauw... I'm really getting into it... The graphics of Shane Davis are so beautiful and captivating.. and seem to really capture the moment Michael is writing about. And talking about the story... a lot happens in this one.. please be aware their are SPOILERS in this review ------------------------------------------ I really love the Lois Lane angle.. of course she's not going to just trust the newby who stole a great story. And her relationship with James Olsen is so funny and realistic.. great writing. The two of them really made me laugh. And then theirs Lisa Lasalle.. who I liked but seemed to be a little over the top.. I wished they took a little more time exploring their relationship.. because now.. it felt a bit rushed. She is funny though.. especially when you can see the response of Clark.. mumbling and awkward.. Priceless. Even-though she only started feeling normal and the end of the story.. her clothes where changed, she carried herself differently.. Then again when she said 'yeah I'm still here and I'm not going anywhere.' I was like.. wait.. what? is this a threat? Does she wan't something from Clark? but then again.. Clark would have heard the words and he doesn't seem to respond to them.. It happened a couple of times that I felt like I was missing something crucial.. When Superman seemed to return for the general.. and kill him and burned down the building.. I was like.. what? it really confused me.. apparently (since we see the general again at almost the end of the story) he only thought about doing that? about taking revenge? even now.. looking back and reading the page again.. I'm like.. how am I supposed to know that he's just thinking about it? because I see the orb of the planet on the background? The second time was when parasite all of the sudden was defeated while the energy level of superman and parasite where actually sort of even. The only thing we see is a red splash, a guy with a phone and then the words 'power flow reversing.' Guess you have to spill it out for me to understand...sorry. Their is so much to look forward for.. I can't wait for the third book to arrive.. I'm wondering if we are going to see more interaction between Lois and Clark now he knows she's been looking into him. Are we going to see a struggle between the government and superman? between the lex family and superman? is the relationship between Lisa and Clark going to continue or are they just friends now? I want mooooreee -- ps. if you have any recommendations about comics I should read... PLEASE let me know! |
