 Writer Geoff Johns illustrator Gary Frank published 10-07-2012 goodread ★★★★☆ 19067 ratings/ 4.1 star personal rating ★★★☆☆ | Finished my second comic book...whoohoo.. My first was earth one; superman and it really got me excited about comics, dc, batman.. superman. I want more! So when I found earth one batman..I thought... OMG Yes!!!! get home, get home, get home! Please keep in mind in my review I truly know nothing about these characters.. only what I'm actually reading in the comics I'm currently reading... so please... my comment might be really off... It's not to offend anyone. So.. as said before.. I couldn't wait to get started...and I found it really funny that they even made the first page completely black... (supermans was all red).. Such a nice though of detail.. Of course the other thing that was immediately obvious are the graphics, totally different and beautiful. And when on page 2 I was rewarded with my first look of Batman.. I was so captivated. I did have a little trouble with the going back and forth in time.. sometimes it really took me out of the story because I just couldn't figure out where I was. When was this happening? But maybe I'm just not used to comics.. With that I also had a problem sometimes keeping Bruce and Bullock apart.. thei look so alike in a close-up.. only the hair-colour is different. The mistakes Bruce.. or more accurate batman makes.. are a little grinchwordy and sometimes a little funny.. It's definitely not your well trained..bad ass batman... Not YET anyway. Bruce character is what you expect.. just enough kindness and sadness to keep you interested while he's actually a total tool.. he's so rude sometimes... I love the art from Gary Frank a little better than that of Shane Davis although I do prefer the writing of Michael Straczynski over that of Geoff.. But that's my assessment after reading 1 comic from both. Advice on what to read next is always welcome! |
